What Should You Pack for a School Year in Ireland?
Packing your suitcase is one of the first steps before your adventure begins.
Ireland’s weather can change quickly, so it’s best to bring comfortable, practical clothing that’s suitable for wet conditions.
- Warm clothing: A waterproof jacket or lightweight padded coat is ideal for the first months, followed by a warm, waterproof winter coat for the colder weather. The school uniform also includes the official school coat, which is compulsory.
- Everyday clothing: Hoodies, joggers, leggings and jeans are perfect for after school and weekends, as comfort is key.
- Sportswear: If you’ll be taking part in extracurricular activities, remember to pack the appropriate sports clothing and footwear.
- Clothes for home: Comfortable clothes, slippers and pyjamas for both milder and colder weather are recommended.
- School shoes: Schools require plain black shoes. Completely black trainers are also allowed, but they must be entirely black.
- Socks and tights: These must also be black.
A well-packed suitcase is the first step towards enjoying your school year in Ireland from day one.
